Who in their right mind would start a relationship in lockdown?

Hey hey, Welcome back to my little corner of the internet – it’s been a while.

I’m allowed to work again now (not fully, thanks to Boris changing his mind 24 hours before opening but hey, that’s another story.)

Realationships are weird things aren’t they? It’s like you pick another human and you’re like “yeah, I like that one.”

We’ve taken a few days away from Leicester and although we can’t fly at the moment we’ve come to Wales for a few days. I know what you’re thinking, Wales?! But I swear, there’s been a few hiccups, but it’s a dream.

I haven’t been with Will that long and anyone that knows me knows I was absolutely shitting it about coming here with him.
Breaks with new people are fun right? I’ll answer that – of course they are; but they’re also absolutely terrifying.

We went on our first date before lockdown, spent lots of time together but then boom – we’re over an hour away from each other and don’t get me wrong, Pokemon Go social distanced in the park is a great way of spending time with someone – but it’s not the same is it?

We started to see each other and became in each others “bubbles”. This helped us LOADS. We spoke every day, FaceTimed with films and basically did everything we could to not mess this up. In May we had a quick look and found a mini break we could easily afford so we booked in with a small deposit. Logically, we thought we could drive there and even if we couldn’t do a lot of stuff it would still be fine to be lazy after working 12-16+ hour days since going back to work.

We got left on Friday morning (I’m luckily not back in lockdown like other parts of Leicester!).. Had a roadtrip up here and it’s been amazing so far. We were worried about eating out and having nothing to do but its been the polar opposite.. Saying this, I’m now shattered and Will’s currently on his second hour of his “quick nap”… We may have done slightly too much yesterday after all, but hey, we’ve been pretty lazy today so I kinda think that evens it out.

I’ll be totally honest here. I don’t care what anyone says, going away with someone new is scary. Like, what do you do when you’ve gotta poop? Play music? Run a tap? Switch the shower on.. or all 3? I swear no one thinks about stuff like this until it happens.
It’s really, really hot – do you cuddle all night despite this or roll away?
Where do you get changed?
What happens if you accidentally eat gluten?
What happens if you’re really tired and dribble in your sleep?
What happens if you forget the right amount of socks?
What happens if you fall over your own feet infront of them? And you gotta play it cool?
What happens if you fall in the shower and have to play it off as a “It’s fine, just kicked something by accident!”

I have done ALL OF THE ABOVE & more. My anxiety is now gone though, so I mean – this is better?! And also a positive.

Yes, yes I did manage to stress about all of the above in the first 12 hours.. but I’ve come to the conclusion that this human being wakes me up when I’ve missed my GD meds, runs out to get me chocolate and always wakes me up in the nicest way possible, so really did I have anything to worry about?

Here’s what we’ve done since we got here yesterday (Friday) –

We’ve eaten steak, drank gin, finally got Will his burger and pint (all he’s asked for the whole of lockdown…)

I’ll upload more tomorrow, we’re going to a lighthouse, to see sharks, to an amazing pub for food and to the beach!

And all I’ve learnt is, coming for a break with my best friend is the absolute best.

I’d type more, but this WordPress update is doing my head in –

Speak soon!

Is Spain good for Gluten Free?

Hey Guys! – Long time no post –

Last week I was in Alcudia in Spain and we stayed at the Belle Vue Club Hotel – And it was AWFUL.

We went all inclusive but the food was SO bad, they offered be iceberg lettuce and grated carrots as it was the only thing they knew was definitely gluten free.. We told them a head I was coeliac and explained.. They said they knew all about it and all about other allergies but clearly they didn’t.

They also booked in 500+ Spanish students into the resort so even when it was meal time we couldn’t get to the food anyway as you literally got pushed out the way..

It was that bad I didn’t even have a bed for the week as they’d double booked – it was honestly awful.

On the plus side, we left the resort a lot (not that we had a choice) and we found some really good places for gluten free food, especially in the Old Town of Alcudia.

We found a restaurant where the chef was also gluten free, so he knew everything and the good was incredible! It was called “Sa Fonda Liabres” – and honestly, I couldn’t recommend it more. If youre ever in the Old Town of Alcudia, you MUST go!

Here’s a little Vlog on our trip, this was easier for you guys then scrolling through hundreds of photos! If you want any of the other photos though, they’re on my Insta which you can get to from the main page (@BasicBee).

All in all, the Resort was AWFUL, but Spain itself was amazing, Pastas, Paellas, Salads, Breads, It was amazing!

Have you been to Alcudia? What were your best and favourite places to go to?

Let me know!

A Saturday in The Cotswolds

Hey! – As much as i’m trying to remember to blog more it’s REALLY hard to find things to actually blog about at the moment..

I know it’s not a “Sunday Funday” but i’m going to class it as one!

So! Dan and I managed to get a 4 day weekend together this week, we went to a gig on Thursday, had a lazy Friday until Tommy (@Tommy_the_sausage) got dropped off to spend the weekend with us whilst his Mom and Dad went to a wedding.
30831486_10155228514316296_328553368_n

We’d had really nice weather on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so we thought we’d take Tomtom to Matlock or to the coast. Turns out when it came to Saturday the weather wasn’t going to be as good – so my Mom, being the angel it is, some how followed the nice weather and worked out where would be best for us to go.

My step dad grew up in the Cotswolds so he was more than happy to come with us – this date day with Tomtom turned into a family day, but this was clearly for the best, as me and Dan would have just got lost..

We walked up to Broadway Tower, and went up it. £5 each to go up was rather steep if i’m honest.. it was interesting, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t £5 each interesting.. Dan forgot to tell my mom he was scared of heights.. so up he went being massively brave and then panicking at the top.. oooops!
30776777_10155228513411296_1946487324_n

We walked back to the car and found some sheep.  Tommy hadn’t seen sheep before… turns out he does NOT like sheep! 30785235_10155228513346296_1102354170_n

He was a bit happier about ducks though.. until he tried to chase the bread that we were throwing into the river at one point.. 30776934_10155228514221296_1502066940_n

We went to a pub for lunch, the menu was pretty decent for gluten free options, but i really fancied a cob (yes it’s a cob, not a roll, a bap, a tea cake or whatever else! It’s a cob!). I didn’t expect them to have gluten free bread to be honest. I settled on some home made potato wedges with cheese, smoked bacon, a side salad and sour cream – I LOVE sour cream so this totally worked for me, it was super yummy!30429430_10155228513081296_1934943744_n

After lunch, we walked into broadway and i found a chocolate shop, it was amazing! so much of it was gluten free too! 30429340_10155228513156296_813911477_n

When we got to bourton-on-the-water we found my fave sweet shop. I ended up buying shrimps, chocolate sea shells, rosey apples, rhubarb and custards and pear drops. I LOVE an old fashioned sweet shop – can you tell?!30859982_10155228513116296_1840854727_n

Walking a bit further, we found a Christmas shop that was open the entire year. I was in my element… 30831013_10155228513541296_551388787_n

I bought these chocolate Bees for me and my friend Charlie (IG @BeeFreeFromGluten) -I’ve already eaten half of mine, they’re SO good!
30831264_10155228514731296_125609355_n

Tomtom had tired legs so he was carried around a lot.. we pretty much mastered him being on my hip like a child to be honest! 30429482_10155228513871296_188984143_n

He was really good at the table too! 30429666_10155228513031296_2016650561_n

Look at my chocolate sea shells from the chocolate shop – they were filled with praline.. they were amazing.. which is clearly why i only gave one to my mom and ate the rest myself… in one sitting.. i got 12…30430189_10155228514666296_582706862_n

We’d walked miles around The Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-water and broadway, so we went and found a little pub near the river.
30977429_10155228513706296_994074924_n

It was called the “Kingsbridge inn” and it was awful..

They didn’t have a single thing on the menu that was gluten free. When i asked they just shrugged and were the opposite of helpful and the staff were more bothered about hanging out with their friend in the beer garden and swearing about other customers then actually helping us… I put a message on the facebook page, they told me i had to download and app and ask for help.. we did, they didn’t help.. i really wouldn’t recommend going here at all… walk a bit further and go to a tea room or a different pub instead! 30784536_10155228513626296_985199372_n

We ended up having a drink and walking back to the car, Dan took tommy cause my arms were tired..

Have you ever looked at your OH and thought, yeah i’m pretty lucky.. this is me right now.. You the real MVP.
30430093_10155228514466296_1083254488_n

We had an ice cream each as the weather turned out pretty nice, Tommy obviously just had to share with Dan! 30859623_10155228513976296_824425002_n

All in all, it was a really nice day and we all had a really good time. Including Smiffy and Tommy!

Next week we’re going on an adventure.. kinda.. and Dan doesn’t know where..

New York Baby!

1_times_square_night_2013

So…

I’ve not been around and blogging much lately, i’ve been super busy (but thats another post..) So here i am… thinking about Christmas already!

I was totally and utterly lost last Christmas as I just didn’t know what to get for Dan and it ended up being a trip to Barcelona, joint with his birthday present and then a few other little bits.

Buying for someone that literally has everything is the absolute worse because there isn’t anything new or exciting. Dan and I have gone to Paris twice, Madrid, Rome and Barcelona in the last 19 months and each time we’ve gone, it’s purely to find new things and to literally go on an adventure!

Rome will always be my favourite, although I say this, but i can think of loads of amazing things from each place!

For some reason (which i’m more than happy about) it’s now a “Thing” that we go away as his Birthday / Christmas present and i’m totally okay with that.. apart from the fact that i feel like i need to make it absolutely amazing each and every time!

So yeah, back to the point of this.. I was sitting in bed on night off from work and decided that I wanted to book something for his Birthday / Christmas but tell him, so we both had time to save so we could do everything and anything we want to do..

I’d dropped hints about New York and he kept saying “Yeah one day, one day i’d love to go with you…”

So, me being me and being the very extra person that I am, didn’t really listen to the whole “one day” part and jumped straight on the internet.

After looking for 4 days, at any and every opportunity I could and asking various people when to go, what do do etc… We’re going to NEW YORK at Christmas for 4 days.

I told Dan i’d booked us a surprise but said I wasn’t going to tell him what it was until his birthday (November).. An hour later i was bugging him to ring me so i could tell him.. My whole surprise thing lasted a solid hour and a half max.. Oooops!

So, heres my question; Other than obviously pretending that we’re in “Home Alone” and doing the usual New York bits at Christmas, where would YOU go and why? After flying all that way i’d hate to miss something! – So let me know!

Travel – Barcelona

Back in my little corner of the internet for my first new blog post of 2018!

We had such a busy Christmas, traveling here there and everywhere to see the family, but for Dan’s birthday and Christmas present I only got him a few silly little bits – because for his main present, I bought us a little city break and we had a couple of days in Barcelona. He’d been before but all he did was sit on a beach, so it was time for us to explore!

We woke up on the 27th and left my house (in the snow) at 4:45/5am – I was SHATTERED – Yet some how still managed a full face of makeup, as I knew as soon as we got there, we’d be exploring.

IMG_3883

We landed around 1pm, got a Taxi to the hotel, got changed quickly and went exploring straight away. We got a taxi into the city centre as we wanted to make the most of our time there, so figured we’d sort out and work out the Metro on the way back, when we were no longer in a rush. IMG_3886

Our hotel was super cute. We stayed in a Spa hotel, yet didn’t actually use any of the spa, or even set foot in it because we were just too busy and the opening times of the actual spa itself clashed with everything we’d planned to do. IMG_3887IMG_3888

As we got into Barcelona city centre, Dan spotted my favourite shop before I did. Sarah told me there was a slide to get in, so of course, i needed to have ago.

HELLO SEPHORA!

IMG_3890

The side was actually really fast, and I made Dan go down it first, I needed my instagram photographer at the bottom before me, or who else would i get to take the photos!?

IMG_3897

I love, love, LOVE, Sephora.

But I stand by what i’ve always said – it needs an ABH counter. In my opinion it’s literally all thats missing.

We left with my Valentines day present – which i’m annoyingly not allowed until February. I can’t really moan though, i mean we did go to Barcelona for Dan’s birthday / Christmas present in the first place, after all! IMG_3899

I really like graffiti, like actual nice pictures etc, not the rubbish random letters done with spray paint that aren’t actually meant to be anything. I loved looking in the graffiti tunnel in London, and there was quite a lot around Barcelona. Dan hates graffiti, so every time I take a photo of any, he makes comments about any slight smudge of the wrong colour on any brick or paint work for the next week, purely to prove his point.

IMG_3900

After exploring and looking around we found a little cafe to get some food, so of course we’re in spain, so we ordered Paella. IMG_3901

The place itself was super cute, it wasn’t very warm though, I was freezing whilst everyone else as sitting in T-shirts more than happy.IMG_3903

We ordered Olives to start, but they came with gherkins and onions, so i was in my element. I just stunk for a while after.IMG_3918

When the Paella came it was MASSIVE. Dan’s convinced it was only for 2 people, but i’m pretty sure 4 people could have eaten it and been more than happy. IMG_3926

IMG_3927

Wherever we went to eat we kept being offered bread, and Dan kept declining it which was nice, look at him thinking about me and my non bread diet. IMG_3933

I got super excited about the Christmas lights so wanted to photo with them – turns out that the photo we actually took with them – they flashed off. Absolutely gutted, i promise they were cute!

I took a photo of these crisps just because they were Barcelona crisps and it made me kinda chuffed..
IMG_3934

On our way back we went to La Rambla.

La Rambla is a street in the centre of Barcelona. It’s lined with trees and a mall. It stretches for around 1.2 kilometres connecting in the centre with the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell. It’s full of pavement cafe’s and souvenir kiosks.

It’s honestly amazing, you just need to be really careful as theres a lot of pick pockets around. Luckily we had our things in my bag which i wore round my front.

IMG_3935

This may seem like nothing, and I can’t eat it because it’s full of Gluten anyway. But look! A bucket full of McDonalds Chicken Nuggets and Cheese bites! My Niece and Nephew would be in heaven with this! IMG_3936

The following day we woke up early as Tom and Alex had got us tickets to a tour of Camp Nou.

We left the hotel and followed google maps for all of 20 seconds, before we realised you could literally see it from out hotel.. Safe to say we took a slow walk down and managed to not get lost! IMG_3955

We got there and there was loads to see, and we found out that Dan’s not so short after all! .. Well, I mean, he’s slightly taller than Messi so? IMG_3957

There was SO much to look at.IMG_3958

IMG_3966

IMG_3970

Dan had an amazing time, even if i did make him take 400 photos… IMG_3978

IMG_3996

IMG_4024

By the end of the tour he said he was “All photo’d out” and we were really hungry so we took a walk and found somewhere to eat, and ordered some Tapas. IMG_4026

Our eyes were clearly too big for our bellies, we ordered Patatas Bravas, Garlic Prawns (which Dan liked because they were already half peeled..)
IMG_4028

Squid, Chorizo Sausage,IMG_4029

And a plate of Meat and Cheese. IMG_4030

We were SO FULL! We jumped on the Metro (We found some train tickets that were like 14.50 euros, that covered us for unlimited travel for 48 hours – so these were perfect for us.

We ended up back at La Rambla, because we really wanted to see it properly, in the day time. IMG_4032

IMG_4042

As soon as we got into the market area it was UNREAL. This isn’t even 1/4 of the first  chocolate stand. IMG_4044

Marzipan fruits, and fruit jellies, IMG_4045

Look at how many jelly sweets there are! AND the fried eggs were bigger than my hands! IMG_4046

Fish, and nuts, fruit, chips, pizza, crisps, whatever you can think of, it was there. IMG_4047

I got some chocolate covered strawberries that were 1 euro ( i think ) they were so yummy, and gluten free too! IMG_4052

IMG_4054

Here you decide what you want to eat, and they cook it for you there and then. IMG_4058

IMG_4059

More chocolate… i was legit in heaven. IMG_4060

They had truffles that were genuinely bigger than my hand..IMG_4064

We walked out the other side of the market and walked around. I really wanted to see some of the Gaudi buildings around Barcelona, but as we were there for such a short time, I came to terms with the fact we weren’t going to have time, so we’d need to come back to see them. IMG_4075

Until I found some really cute and interesting looking stained glass windows and was staring at them for ages, i’m pretty sure Dan got bored of this, so we walked around the other side of the building to the front… Andddd it turns out we were already at one of The Gaudi Museums.. IMG_4080

After this we decided to head towards the Metro.. and of course do a little more shopping, so Dan being Dan, and knowing how much I love Sephora ( I had walked around the football stadium with him for hours the same day ) said we could go back to Sephora. I won a hair treatment but have beauty works hair in the front of my head, so figured that was a no. They swapped it for a mini make over for me, so I queued up to get my mini make over, took one look at the state of her pallet and decided that was definitely going to be a no.. IMG_4085

We walked some more, it got cold and we some how got peckish, so we stopped at Planet Hollywood in Barcelona. I had a Mocktail (non alcoholic cocktail) with orange juice, mango juice and red bull, it was SO nice but super sweet! IMG_4119

The gluten free options were amazing, but we knew they’d be good because of when we went to the Planet Hollywood at Disneyland Paris. IMG_4120

We ordered Nachos “For 2 to share” but they came out and they were absolutely HUGE! We definitely didn’t need mains.. IMG_4122

So we went straight to dessert! It was SO good! This was a chocolate brownie sundae, but the brownie was gluten free. It was so yummy and warm.

Warm brownie with ice cream is something I really miss from when i was able to eat normal food. IMG_4124

We left and it had got really cold. I say this but the coldest it was the entire time we were there was 14 degrees, so i’m kind of unsure how i can say it was cold when it was -4 at home! IMG_4128

The following morning we were going to get the Metro to the airport as it was a simple get on and wait 32 minutes and get off at the last stop. The Metro station was also a 6 minute walk from our hotel, so really easy and super close. There was problems on the track, luckily i got a notification on my phone at 1am. So we ended up getting a taxi.

Heres my, it’s 4am, how is it already home time face.
IMG_4132

We got to the airport and headed straight for “breakfast”.

Everywhere we go we always make sure we have a Burger King or McDonalds, so Dan decided we were getting a Burger King at the airport. When we arrived he didn’t fancy it and neither did I.

This was until I saw a huge sign that said “SIN GLUTEN!”

Gluten free Burger King! This meant we were definately having Burger King for Breakfast now!

Check out my Gluten Free Burger, WITH BREAD all wrapped up like a normal burger. The bread was so soft and lovely too! I wish they did this in the UK.

IMG_4152

We got on the plane 50 minutes late because we were delayed. Then the plane didn’t take off for another hour and a bit. We were supposed to land back at Birmingham at 8:50am and didn’t land until 12:30pm. We wouldn’t have minded if we were in the airport at this time, but we were literally stuck on the plane. It’s safe to say I was really happy to finally get off of the plane!

We collected the car, and headed home. We climbed into our Christmas PJ’s and watched way to much of a box set on sky Q and snuggled into bed.

IMG_3879

I cannot wait for our next adventure, and our first adventure of 2018!

IMG_4121

BEES XO

“Why Is A Raven Like A Writing Desk?”

So a couple of weeks ago we got bought two tickets to “Alice Underground” in The Vaults theatre in London.
So on Saturday 2nd Of September we drove to Rugby Station, jumped on a train and off we went!

I was really worried about Dan hating it cause he isn’t in to Alice (although he did buy the DVD for us on our first like movie date night which was cute!) but that was a while ago, so he doesn’t really need to do stuff like that for brownie points anymore.

First off, we didn’t think we we’re going to make the train so we went to McDonalds and had breakfast. McDonalds is one of those places where i always feel like they should be doing SO much more gluten free stuff by now as they’re so big. But no, heres my bacon and egg Mcmuffin, without the muffin..

IMG_5101

When we finished, we went to park and eventually after a few different car parks we found a space (in the original one we were supposed to go in..) and then walked to the station. I say walk, Dan made us run, and we some how got the original train we were supposed to be getting, still now i have no idea how Dan didn’t run straight out the other side or trip over taking 3 steps at a time whilst my little legs didn’t keep up as well..

We got to London (please keep in mind the only place i’ve ever been on trains is in Paris and there is fine, easy i can handle it, but in the UK, i paid for a car, i’m using my car.. so trains aren’t a thing for me) and it was pretty drama free!
IMG_5113

We’re never early for ANYTHING cause “WE” have the worlds worst time keeping. Yet somehow we were nearly 2 and a bit hours early. So we went to see Big ben, The London Eye, Had some Slush drinks and i was of course asking for selfies every 5 minutes..IMG_5114

IMG_5115

We walked the longest way you could thing, but eventually found the Vaults and the graffiti tunnel. I think the tunnel itself is AMAZING! Dan disagrees cause he doesn’t see the point in graffiti and says it isn’t art.. but i do, so i took more pictures (shock) and send a load to Sam, who does loads of graffiti (legally) around Leicester.

IMG_5118

IMG_5117

We eventually got the the front door of The Vaults theatre itself. Had our bag searched and as soon as you go in, it’s as if you’re in another world. We clocked in with our tickets, got a stamp and had a look around until out show was called at 2:15pm. IMG_5120

There was SO much to look at and EVERYTHING was Alice themed. Nothing was missed they’d done everything and yet more than you could think or dream of to bring it to life.IMG_5121

They had loads of different cocktails too. They were again all alice themed. The bar guy was so lovely and went through every cocktail to find out what was Gluten Free and what wasn’t to help us and then was more than happy to change a few bits around so if it wasn’t originally Gluten free, he could make it so it was. I love when people do this so you don’t feel like you’re not included or like you have to miss out. IMG_5123

I’m gonna pretend he’s looking at me a smiling, but i think it was either Forest had scored or something amusing in one of his group chats. He looks cute though, so i’ll leave this photo here. IMG_5124

Behind Dan on the photo above, was a photo booth with an iPad, It had boomerangs and stuff so you could take pictures with the alice boarders and that. After 6 attempts we got two, but the other one i’m grabbing his face, so i’ll post this one instead! IMG_5132

There was no phones allowed inside, so we couldn’t take any other pictures which was sad, but also good cause it added to the experience. The show Alice Underground itself is incredible.

You’re first sent into a room, which itself is amazing. You walk through a secret passage way, and you chose eat or drink. We chose drink, so you drink and walk through a tiny door, as you’ve shrunk, and the people that choose eat go through a huge door, cause they’ve grown.

Then you’re given a playing card “All subjects are to be issued with a ‘Sanctioned Ultra-sensible identification ticket’ or a ‘SUIT’ for short. Your journey through Wonderland is guided by a charismatic playing card!”

I was the 2 of clubs – and i was also the luckiest person on the entire tour. I kept being pulled out for stuff, and taken into little rooms that no one else would get to see. I had to take tart kits and flour to the chef, i had to carry mouse milk around (it’s vary rare you know, do you know how hard it is to milk a mouse?). After crawling and running around with just one other playing card (one of the cast) i was taken back into the room with everyone else. Me and Dan then got spilt up as he was a spade! I started panicking but it was actually kinda fun and made it even better.

He had his tour, and i had mine, we had moles humping my feet, they’d only go away with mouse milk. We had to help paint the roses red, and so so SO much  more. The entire thing is incredible.
21754902_485319091842941_366741003_o

Me and Dan eventually met up again around half way round the show. We met up after seeing the twins and sat with the caterpillar. Dan got to eat the tarts but i got given a whistle to call the Jabberwocky.

We then went and got our tea, and sat ready for the mad hatters tea party. This itself, theres no words to describe it. Ive never been to anything like it in my entire 26 years of life.. Of course though, we all had to move seats, which means i was on the tall chair dancing with the cast and everyone was singing the Happy un-birthday song to me! (Honestly, i did more than anyone on this tour!)

21744807_485319111842939_773739824_o

After that there was a few other bits and the grand finale, which i won’t give away!

If you have the chance to go, then GO! I couldn’t recommend it more and we’re so lucky we got the tickets as a gift else i don’t think we would have gone at all!

We headed out, went to the station, and started our journey back to Rugby.
IMG_5140

Dan, of course loves a nap so fell asleep on the train.. IMG_5145

Then woke up with my handbag printed on the side of his face, which i found really funny so heres a picture of that.. IMG_5149

We we’re going to eat in London but as it was a Saturday night decided not to. We ended up at Nandos in Rugby and ordered WAY too much food. IMG_5151

IMG_5152

We some how ate it all though (after counting chips out to each other because we were just TOO full).

Theres less than 2 weeks left to see Alice Underground, so if you can get tickets, DO IT! It wont be here again, and i honestly couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday. It was honestly Incredible.

To see more bits, Follow them on Instagram @AliceUnderLdn and Their website is http://www.alice-underground.com – the website itself will show you just half of how amazing it is.

Theres ALOT of walking around the show, you’re sat down for nothing, but this plus a mixture of climbing though bookcases, through forests, avoiding the Hearts, tarts and frogs – and yet making friends with the caterpillar is all worth it.

IMG_5183

Safe to say after this we had a very very lazy Sunday as we both needed it! And on the odd chance we get to go back, we’ll just have to pick EAT!

Hello September!

Hey! i’ve been super busy the last few weeks (blog posts coming about this) but i’m back before i take another break for Freshers at the end of the month!

It’s finally September!
September is my FAVOURITE month of the year because it’t when the seasons change to Autumn! – And Autumn is clearly the best season for many reasons – I like summer, it’s warm, it’s hot, it’s when i take the most time off work, but I feel like i can’t buy over priced hot drinks and justify being cold or staying in bed all day with 6 Movies and a box set in the Summer either.

So here’s a list of why Autumn is the best..
IMG_5362

Jumpers.

Jumpers, Cardigans, Jackets, Sweaters, Wool in general – You can buy 2343 new ones and justify it. Theres some really cute ones in New Look at the moment too! You can throw one on top of another every time your slightly cold and call it an outfit.

Brisk Breeze.

It’s chilly, but it’s not freezing like Winter is. Plus as above – you can add layers and still look cute AF.

Eskimo Kisses To Warm The Nose.

Eskimo kisses also mean you don’t smudge your lipstick, hence why darker shades of browns, reds and purples are dropped into store at the start of September. I LOVE darker shades, so eskimo kisses work fine with me..

IMG_5364

It’s cold enough for Tea, Coffee or OTT Hot Chocolates.

You can justify making (or stopping in cute little cafes) for Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate and don’t have to order everything iced. IMG_5358

One Pot Meals.

Warm stews, curries and one pot meals! Throw everything into a pot and let it cook slowly – Theres SO many recipes online too!

Candles.

I mean, i light candles ALL year, but then get moaned at cause it makes our bedroom too hot (kinda makes sense) but in Autumn the days are shorter, nights are longer, so candles become something you can definitely justify lighting to make your room look cuter. Fairy lights too!

Blankets, Cuddling, Books, Box Sets.

You can justify getting up in the morning, showering putting fresh PJ’s on and then climbing back into bed for the entire day. It’s chilly outside and probably raining, so lets do this.. You also don’t get too hot in bed and stick to one another… no matter how close you are or how long you’ve been together thats pretty gross.

IMG_5360

Walks:

Everything looks different, so it’s like a new walk. I LOVE going to Matlock in the Autumn. The Leaves have fallen, they decorate with lights everywhere and you can walk and walk with so much to see and do. Including the illuminations which are on every weekend in September.

Colourful leaves:

Is there a lot of stuff better then feeling the leaves crunching under your feet and kicking them around? Autumn makes everything look prettier.
IMG_5359

Bonfires and wood burners.

My little brother LOVES a wood burner. On Sunday after dinner he went straight into the garden to light it – this is the perfect excuse to roast marshmallows too!

IMG_5366

Socks.

Sandals are away until next Summer, out comes every type of sock you can think of. Knee high socks are so okay in Autumn too! I wear these every possibility i get – They instantly make your outfit look cuter and keep your legs warm at the same time – its win win.

Cinnamon.

The smell of cinnamon is everywhere! It goes into hot chocolates, cookies, cakes everything. I LOVE cinnamon!

IMG_5365

Boots.

Ugg boots, ankle boots, Timberlands, it doesn’t matter which, your feet are ALWAYS cosy.

Pumpkins & Halloween.

Autumn is Halloween and this is my absolute favourite holiday even if it is originally american. I LOVE dressing up, going OTT on faceprint and going to pick my own pumpkin to calve it! I’m really bad at it, do an awful job, but hey! It’s fun..

IMG_5361

I think i was supposed to be a clown here? I have no idea why, I’m terrified of clowns.IMG_5367

Pumpkin Carving.

Awful pumpkin, it has a Bee on it though and like i said above, it was fun.. ish.IMG_5368

I went to work like this. This is why Autumn and Halloween is so great. IMG_5369

Scarefest.

Halloween means scare fest – I LOVE Scarefest at Alton Towers, I Didn’t go last year which sucked cause I had tickets. Dan hates rides though, so I guess some peer pressure will have to be put on him so he comes this year! I already messaged two of his friends last month to make sure they find dates to come with.. failing that, they can take each other!

And of course..

FRESHERS & HALLOWEEN.

The end of September and most of October is filled with the Fresh Festival (Freshers fortnight events) and the Halloween Festival (Halloween events).

I work in events so i’m super lucky to be able to be a part of these every year. I’m about to do my 5th Freshers. The office is loads smaller now, so i have to be less annoying and over excited – But I think i’m actually more excited than ever!

10 things I learnt after I looked after a little person for a week..

So, I’m auntie Sezz.

..Im the fun one, the loud one, the one that fills them with cake and sugar and runs around with them. I’m the one that covers them in glitter and face paints them on normal days, shares my sephora pallet with them and spend hours up on hours of time building lego – But theres always other adults around.

I took my niece to Disney land for her 6th birthday with Dan, she had the most amazing time and i totally regret non of it, but Oh My GOD, i learnt ALOT!

It was her first time flying, being away from her mom without my mom (her granny) being around for a week and also her first time abroad.

  1. The Trunkie is NOT your friend, it hits you in the ankle repeatedly.. But it’s okay because when they get tired you can sit them on it and they hold on to the horn type things and boom, it’s basically a ride..

IMG_1552

2. Unless they’re sitting on said trunkie, they’re Miss independent and want to pull it themselves around the airport, which obviously when flying from Luton is great idea, it’s not like its super busy or anything… *Sarcasm*

IMG_1556

3. Chocolate cake isn’t lunch. When we’re at family parties every kid knows to come to me for pudding cause i’ll go OTT with them.. I actually made her have a meal of pasta first.. Also if theres a way of giving them sorbet instead of ice cream – do it, it’s less sugar apparently?! –  I was proud, is this the first step on being a responsible adult?

IMG_1565

4. Little peoples first flight is an experience in itself. “OMG THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER” “OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING” “OMG I WANT TO GO ON A PLANE EVERYDAY!”

Bonus – she wasn’t scared.  IMG_1582

oh look.. her Trunkie being pulled by herself.. again. Just before i tripped over it.IMG_1585

5. If theres something to climb, they climb it. It does not matter how big or small it is, it doesn’t even matter what it is, if theres a way to climb it.. they will. Before this holiday i was the one that encouraged climbing, piggy backs, and jumping off stuff…IMG_1665

Climbing.. again.IMG_1670

6. £3.50 for a normal slush, or £9 for a slush that comes in a plastic cup? Obviously it’s the second choice! The more expensive version is always the best and most wanted. It’s also going to be held by the little people for about 20 minutes until its too cold for their hands and you end up carrying it instead! Oh! and if theres an opportunity to be carried or piggy backed or have a shoulder ride, they will take it. Their legs get tired within 2.12 seconds and then boom, you’re a human horse. IMG_1683

7. They could be obsessed with meeting a certain person (Hers was Darth Vader instead of princesses) We did tell her he was from the dark side, but NO! She HAD to meet him. So on day two, off we went! We queued up for 40 minutes, we met him, and oh my god this kid was clinging to my leg in fear, to the point i had to carry her out, and then we did princesses. She still won’t talk about her Darth Vader experience other than “he’s the worst person in the world, he’s horrible and i never want to see him again!”

Then we moved on to the princesses.. This was a MUCH better idea!
IMG_1716

8. Face paint. I faceprint the little people at home, but obviously i don’t work in disney, so £13.50 for faceprint at Disneyland is a bargain! It’s even better when 20 minutes later they’ve smudged it on every part of their body and they wanted it off now. How many baby wipes will this take?IMG_1912

9. Speaking of baby wipes – Baby wipes are magical. They remove everything. Food, Drink, Too hot? baby wipe yourself. Covered in food? Baby wipe yourself. Toilet ran out of toilet paper? Baby wipe, and as for ice cream.. they’re great! Why don’t i just carry them usually? Baby wipes may have been my best accessory at Disneyland.. I’m not even joking. These things are like gold dust! Oh, and the travel packets? I salut whoever came up with this idea – You are incredible Mr Mini pack baby wipe man.

You have to pack for EVERY possibility. 30 degrees but staying for the parade and fire works? You need a night time outfit, plus sun cream for the day, Anti-bacteraial gel, obviously baby wipes (have i mentioned how great they are yet?) Everything and anything.
IMG_1935

Little one got attached to this leaf she wanted to take home for her leaf collection, as we were a few hours flight away we decided a photo would be a good idea, then we made a wish and let the leaf blow away with it’s little leaf friends.. IMG_2001

You get them a new toy, and this toy becomes life. Rapunzel. Her long hair covered in ketchup a day in, i did a good 54322345 plaits in her hair, we played hair dressers, she couldn’t go in a bag! She’s a princess! So, we had to carry Rapunzel around the airport and she also went on her first flight… I dread to think what might have happened if we’d lost Rapunzel. She even needed to wash her hands after the bathroom.. IMG_2004IMG_2032IMG_2035

10. The most important thing i learnt was that this little human is incredible. She has so much courage and intelligence for such a little human being and i am so incredibly proud of her. Watching her grow up and teaching her how to do things etc is the greatest gift i could be given. I’m so proud of her. My Little best friend xo

IMG_1677

The day after we got home and she went back to her mums i felt like id lost my trust little sidekick! There was no one there to “help” me brush my teeth, brush my hair and pull half my weave out, or try and sleep in my tshirts instead of their own!  It’s a good job she rang us the next day to ask if we were okay and to tell us she missed us. This made it totally okay for me to be needy and ring her later on too!

Also – it’s tiering! How can they go to bed late after the fireworks etc, yet wake up so early!? Sleep little people, sleep!

And yet, i can’t wait to do this all over again. I wouldn’t change a single bit go this for anything in the entire world!

The magical place for GF..

IMG_1641

Hey!
I’ve been crazy busy and feel like there isn’t enough hours in the day to blog at the moment! We’ve just got back from taking my niece to Disney land for her birthday and after the “meal” at the airport i was really really worried about being about to eat at Disneyland and not having to live off of Crisps and ice tea.

We flew from Luton airport and got there just after mid day. We went to Frankie and Benny’s for an all day breakfast (the normal thing people eat at the airport before they fly right…?)

When we got there I asked for the gluten free menu. The main menu looked amazing, there was SO much stuff on it and i fancied so much of it!

…I got half a side of A4 paper as my menu and there was a breakfast on it. Looking at it properly i couldn’t even eat the chips as they were cooked with onion rings etc. How hard is it to keep oils separate? But hey, how bad could it be?

I ordered the chicken burger with a sour cream potato.

The chicken burger was meant to be full of salad, so lettuce, tomato, relish, mayo, red onion, cheese and bacon.

This is what i was presented with – a dry chicken burger that was still pink in the middle and a jacket potato that was harder than my mums rock pool in the back garden.

I made the most of it, but it was AWFUL. – To make matters worse, desert wise i could have a fruit salad or nothing.

IMG_1558

After this i was even more worried, the last thing I felt like doing after only recently hitting my target weight was living on salads for the week.

When we bought the Disney land tickets we got free discount vouchers for planet Hollywood. We’d eaten there before and it was alright, not great but we thought we’d give it a try.

We walked in, got seated straight away, i asked for the Gluten Free menu and it was already in the normal menu! I loved this because it’s sometimes awkward asking for the other menu when they’ve already sat you down.

There was SO much on the menu to choose from!

From burgers to pastas, steaks, pizzas and more! – I don’t think i’ve ever had this much choice GF food wise in one place.

IMG_2110

IMG_2111

IMG_2112

The first day i rushed because i didn’t look properly and realise that there was more than one page. I just ordered a margarita pizza. I wasn’t that hungry and for the price i wasn’t expecting much. The photo makes it look so average, but it wasn’t, it was beaut! It was crispy and didn’t have the horrible stodgy dough taste a lot have, plus it wasn’t stick thin either!

IMG_1638

The second day i looked at the menu so much more – and i got stuck.

Luckily I have a really understanding boyfriend that knows how difficult eating out can be for me – so he also ordered his food Gluten free and picked off the Gluten free menu so i could have some of his…

We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a BBQ chicken, bacon and cheese burger – and Dan cut both in half so we could have half each! The chips were gluten free too! Plus all the portions were massive!

IMG_1871

I’m really lucky that Dan understands how excited i get about good GF menus..

The bread on the burger was soft and toasted (this never happens)

They asked us how we wanted the burger cooked (we had medium and it was perfect)

They filled everything up just as much as the usual and non gluten free portions – and they didn’t cost any more than the normal ones – which is again really rare!

If you see a Planet Hollywood i strongly suggest nipping in and ordering some food! Just don’t order sides, you really don’t need them! We were stuffed for hours after!

It’s safe to say when we go back i won’t be worrying or stressing myself out about being able to eat an actual meal again!

#SundayFunday – We went on a boat!

Sorry for the late post! I had a busy week and weekend. I meant to post on Sunday but went for a “nap” at 7pm and didn’t wake up until 10am the following morning..  So heres my late #SundayFunday blog post!

So, on Saturday we went to my works Summer Ball, we left by about 3am because we had such a busy day planned on Sunday with my family. Dan moved home last week so i was convinced we were going to make the most of this weekend!

You always see all the #CoupleGoals posts on Instagram, and they’re cute AF. So! What better way to spend out Sunday! – I Scrolled through Instagram to get some date day ideas, we were out with my family anyways at Wicksteed Park – and then BOOM, i see the boating lake! 4 hours sleep between us, neither of us like exercise – how hard can this be?

We suited up in life jackets ( I can’t actually swim very well other than doggy paddle) and paid our 4 tickets and then off we went! Tickets are like £1.20 each, so half an hour on this boat only cost us £4.80 – Bargain right?!

IMG_8736

Please remember the below photo – couple goals, instagram couple, cute right?

IMG_8912

So! We get in the boat, i scream a lot cause Dan decides to rock it. Everyones going faster than us, but thats cool? We’re going at our own pace.. Why is everyone rowing the wrong way? Oh no.. we’ve now been in the boat for 10 minutes – going backwards. IMG_8737

We turn round – a chance to go forward correct? No. Dan finds a massive fountain in the middle of the lake, I’m screaming and he’s still rocking the boat singing “Don’t rock the boat, Don’t rock the boat baby!” – Confirmed : Wondering if he can swim so i can throw him in? He’s now moaning his arms are tired – okay we’ll swap!
IMG_8742

I take over rowing, i think I’m doing really well, i have tiny arms, this is better than the gym! I have the worlds worst hay fever, i can’t actually see from teary eyes, i can’t smell cause my nose is blocked and I’m completely snotty – but hey other than that – this is going totally fine!
IMG_8753

I may or may not (definitely may) have forgotten to look where we were actually going – so we crash slightly into a wall – it’s okay! Have to fear Bees and her big arms are here! I get us away from the wall (cussing at Dan the entire time about what massive arms i have and how he’s a wuss etc…)

IMG_8761

Hmm.. A Willow tree seems to have appeared.. how do i turn again? What do i do!? Why isn’t he helping me?!
IMG_8764

BRACE YOURSELF – I DON’T KNOW HOW TO TURN THE BOAT.IMG_8769

So, not a massive issue, who needs turning anyway? We’ll just go through the tree, its totally better anyways! IMG_8770

Okay this kind of hurts now, we attempt to duck.. IMG_8773

Tree. A lot of Tree. An Awful Lot of tree – A HUGE TREE.IMG_8774

We get out of the tree, i keep rowing, it’s only a tree, I have leaves in my hair now but hey! It’s totally fine! Right?

Oh no – a motor boat goes past us. I can’t row next to this?! We end up IN the fountain. We’re laughing, were wet, we’re in bright bloody orange and i still can’t breathe.

IMG_8779

Dan takes back the job of rowing and i give up – we row back to the start (it’s been over 40 minutes, we’d only booked it for half an hour…) We crash, run over some ducks, make another boat with a 3 year old girl in  it crash – and we end up parking the boat (is that what you’d call it?) backwards…
IMG_8794

So, what have we learnt? Instagram couples are not real life! I doubt they ended up getting off the boat soaked and covered in leaves after crashing repeatedly, nearly falling out and running over some ducks!

Better luck next week!

Sunday Funday – Rain Edition.

It’s Sunday, It’s raining..again.

The sun is shining, everywhere is dry… OH wait, we live in England.

Instead of being super bored for the entire day, moaning that it’s a waste of a day and nature hates us and we only ever get 4 sunny days in England, take a look below at some easy date day idea’s to do in the rain!

IMG_7648

Staying dry..

  1. Go bowling –  It’s like £6.19 at Hollywood bowl and student discount is available too! You can shove on jeans and a hoodie and this is still perfectly acceptable with those lovely red blue and white shoes..
  2. Go on a rainy day shopping spree – Whats the reason you’re stuck inside? Head into town and buy each other those cute rain coats (that are possibly only acceptable to wear at festivals) but you forget all about them when it isn’t raining. Orr just head straight to H&M and get another outfit that you probably don’t need.. Crop tops for £3.99, everyone needs those!
  3. Go out –  find a Cafe with a big window. Sit by the window and sip hot chocolate whilst making plans for another day.. or laugh at everyone getting soaked outside. (You can laugh cause it’s gonna be you in a while!).
  4. Eat – Go and eat too much food. When it rains we head straight to a Carvery. We eat our body weight then struggle to walk out, then we head straight home to put PJ’s on and chill with our food comas.
  5. House projects – Whether you wanna change one room or the entire house, nip out, grab magazines and catalogs and sit there and start getting ideas. ( I did this but actually just ended up making a photo collage and putting 7 strings of fairy lights up..)
  6. Go Ghost Hunting – Every town or city has some old places to check out, so try it.
  7. Arcade – An arcade doesn’t have to be expensive (unless you’re me and you REALLY need that £2 teddy from the Claw grabber..) Give yourself a budget, it’s like 50p to play air hockey and beat your OH, then you can be smug for the entire day too.
  8. Book a short break – You can book short breaks online with a deposit of like £20. OR if you go onto booking.com, on most of the hotels you don’t have to pay until you arrive. This means plenty of time to save.
  9. Board games – When was the last time you actually played a board game? Dust them off from the cupboard and give it ago. Again, if you win, you can be smug all day..
  10. Netflix and Chill – I love Netflix. Whoever invented the idea of Netflix is in my opinion, a god of their own. Put some PJ’s on, Face masks (Which your OH clearly does wanna do but just not when he’s being a “LAD”) and snuggle with a Netflix series. You’ll be surprised how much you get through.
  11. Go to a water park – Water world in stoke is huge. It’s around £10 each and you can be in there for hours!
  12. Play The SIMS – I recently downloaded this on my mac and have been playing it since. I keep building houses and being like “This is gonna be our house”. Sims is a guilty pleasure and Dan loves to pretend he doesn’t like it and then gets involved.

Don’t Mind Getting Wet..?

  1. Walk – Put your wellies on, act like a kid and go splash in puddles. Get your OH to take some photos so you have memories too! Anyone can get photos plus theres no one around if you feel awkward about posing. (I strongly recommend not doing this in jeans..wet jeans hurt.)

Failing all of this, just do the obvious…

Madrid Short Break

IMG_6610 (1)

So! Me and Dan went to Madrid last weekend… and spent 90% of our money on food.. We were there  Sunday – Wednesday and although i’ve been before, this time was SO much better.

We arrived and got sorted and in our room for around 8pm. So we got changed and went straight out to eat. It was the Real Madrid, Barcelona match the night we got there so although we ended up not watching it at the stadium, we went and found a bar just up from the apartment. We had loads of food, beer and sangria and the atmosphere was amazing! IMG_6492

We ordered Chocolate ice cream, well what we thought was chocolate ice cream, but it was actually difference ice creams dipped in different chocolate and then served individually. They were so nice!IMG_6495

I wore my New Look denim jacket and a cute little 2 piece outfit. It’s like shorts and a sling back top. I ordered an 8 and the top was way to big, but the shorts fitted okay! They’re both really thin, so pretty perfect for Holiday! They’re from BooHoo.

IMG_6487

There was a mirror on the entrance / exit of the apartment and it lit up at night. Perfect selfie location..
IMG_6490

The first day we were there we went to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, which is basically a big football stadium.. Dan was in his element, I was walking around trying to find good light for selfies, and taking far too many photos.

IMG_6521IMG_6523IMG_6528

IMG_6642

I even found a mirror in the changing rooms and made Dan selfie with me.. IMG_6578

Okay so after the football day (which felt like it lasted a good 3 weeks, but it was his trip for his present so I’m not negative..) i found makeup shops! I went a little OTT, but i fully stand by the fact i needed everything i bought… kinda. The picture below is only from one shop.. we went to about 7.IMG_6581

I wore a sling back top, so needed a stick on bra the second day we were there. Dan got really confused and couldn’t work out what it actually was or what it was for. As its reusable, I put it back in its packaging and 20 minutes later Dan walks in wearing it looking pretty chuffed with himself..

IMG_6592

The last day was pretty cold (for me, but I’m a wuss) so i ended up wearing jeans and a denim jacket all day. It was kinda awkward because everyone else was wearing shorts and t-shirts.. IMG_6600

Where we were staying, the apartment was on a really busy hughstreet. So we had loads of food places around us. We went to “VIPS” for lunch on the last day cause the menu had loads of gluten free stuff. We ordered gluten free nachos, The nachos themselves were nice. Dan loved the sauce thing, but it was way to weird for me. It had melted cheese sauce, salsa, avocado, sour cream, chorizo and chicken… ALL MIXED UP INTO A HOT SAUCE. Nope.. I can’t deal with that.
IMG_6602

I had a VIP’s Club Sandwich for lunch after the nachos were a massive fail. It was SO nice and really odd to be able to order a sandwich gluten free without people looking at you weird. IMG_6603

We went on a bus tour around Madrid to see everything. It was supposed to be Hop on, Hop off. It’s open for like 14 hours a day too. Theres two different routes, ones like old Madrid and ones classed as New Madrid. We only got off the bus once to swap routes.. we’d over eaten at lunch and I was hungover from sangria.. IMG_6609 (1)IMG_6610 (1)

As we got off the bus we found the KIKO Shop. KIKO Milano is an Italian Makeup & cosmetics range and has been around since 1997. Theres one in London and Birmingham but there isn’t one in Leicester. This kinda sucks cause everything in theres SO cheap for what it is and the products last ages! IMG_6615

Then I found my home.. NYX. I LOVE NYX Make-up & Products. Everything is full of pigment, lasts ages and nothing dries your skin out or makes you break out. Most of my eyeshadows are NYX and i couldn’t recommend them more. They have stalls in Leicester. Boots in fosse park has a really big stall with about 8/9 different stands. IMG_6616

Bubble Tea! Dan hates it, I love it. They have a stand at Uni, but i managed to grab one with Mango juice, then Apple and lychee popping pearls and Mixed jellies. IMG_6617

On our last night we said we were only going to order a few bits and just snack. Turns out it ended up not being a few bits. We had A plate of different meats and cheese. A salad with literally everything on and some Patatas Bravas (spicy potatoes). It was all SO nice though.. IMG_6637

Standard “flying so i’m gonna take a photo of clouds” photo.. IMG_6655

I had the most amazing time exploring Madrid properly this time and literally can’t wait to go back. We managed to get our standard flights for just over £100 for both of us and the apartment was only £126 for 4 people. We upgraded and stuff so it cost a little more. But it’s really easy to go to Madrid for cheap!

We went to Rome in November and it was on my other blog, but I restarted it, so lost everything!

Rome is literally magical. Theres so much to look at and so much amazing food too! We even got to go to the steps where my Grandad proposed to my Grandma, which was cute AF.

We spent hours at the Colosseum, it’s absolute massive, and i wanted to of course see every single part of it..

Even the walk ways were pretty, everything is pretty in Rome!IMG_0447IMG_0444IMG_0436IMG_0386IMG_0434IMG_0424

After this, we went to see the Trevi fountain.

Apparently when we went it had just finished having loads of work done to it. I really wanted to do the whole throw a coin in and make a wish… but there was no other coins so I’m assuming it isn’t or wasn’t actually a thing.. maybe next time!

Then my life changed.. Dan ‘willingly’ walked over an hour with me to find Sephora. If you don’t know, Sephora is the make up shop of make up shops, so of course, I spent what i thought was around 20 minutes in here, it turns out it was over an hour.

The entire time we were in Rome, i think we went in here like 3 or 4 times. I left with like 5 or 6 eye shadow pallets, some makeup for Dan’s little sister, stuff for my boss, Phoebe and of course wayyyy to much stuff for myself. Turns out Dan had to pack my stuff into his case before we got on the plane home.. Mine was full with Sephora goodies… Ooops! IMG_0315

The food in Rome was INCREDIBLE. Being gluten free i was a bit sad i didn’t get to eat the pizza or pasta, so i lived on risotto, salad, and far too much ice cream and chocolate mousse. The desert below was amazing.. to the point we had it basically every night we were there.. i miss this so much!IMG_0293

I ate so much risotto – all sea food based. It was so so good..IMG_0291IMG_0341IMG_0457

Before we went my eating was really iffy again, but it helped so much going and being able to explore new menus and Dan not minding about me taking ages to order, or swapping bits and bobs and even drinks with me!

This is Nutella gelato and strawberry gelato.. obviously i can’t eat cones so needed a large tub to make up for this..

It was one of the most amazing few days and I can’t wait to go back!IMG_0333

“We Were Staying In Paris…”

img_3906It was my birthday on the 18th and as usual gaining another year to my life wasn’t something I wanted to admit was actually happening, so we went to Paris instead!

img_3903We did all the usual touristy things which included The Louvre. This has been in so many films I’ve watched included National treasure, so it was really weird to see it in real life, like it’s actually a real thing..

img_3890

Sticking with the whole tourist vibe, we went to see the Eiffel tower too. We didn’t go up it cause Dans a wuss and doesn’t do heights, plus there was a massive fence around it which made the queues longer, and they took longer to go down too.. And I don’t really do queues unless i’m in a shop and i’m really wanting whatever I’m buying.. We then walked from here to the Point de l’archeveche, which is the love lock bridge without the locks because they took them all down. It was supposed to take us 45 minutes to walk here, it actually took us over an hour to find it because we got lost a lot and google maps on my phone just didn’t feel like working well, but I didn’t want to admit it as i was main map person.. Plus we kept stopping for crisps on route too! I like crisps and eating gluten free in Paris itself was an absolute nightmare. We ended up with McDonalds this day..img_3849

We went to Disney Land! It was so amazing, we didn’t really do many of the bigger rides cause as stated above, Dan’s a wuss, but to be fair we were both pretty ill this day too, so rides were possibly not the best idea anyway! img_3821img_3790

The Alice in Wonderland part of Disney land was obviously my favourite. I absolutely LOVE Alice and the whole story. The whole of my right arm is an Alice in wonderland sleeve and so are my ankle tattoos. The whole story itself amazes me. You can fall down a hole and then suddenly everything is different…

“Alice is engaged in a romance quest for her own identity and growth, for some understanding of logic, rules, the games people play, authority, time, and death.. When you approach the book with this idea in mind, it offers interesting and meaningful interpretations of the events and characters in the story.”

“I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night. Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I’m not the same, the next question is ‘Who in the world am I?’ Ah, that’s the great puzzle!”

We went to Planet Hollywood for lunch and being coeliac I wasn’t expecting much. I was so wrong! There was 4 full pages of gluten free meals, sides and desserts! From pizzas to burgers, to pastas and steaks. It was amazing and I was completely spoilt for choice. I ended up having a chicken burger because it was one of the things I hadn’t had when eating out for just over 10 years. I was really excited but when it came out the bread nearly broke my teeth, so i ended up just eating the bits inside anyway… Totally should have gone for the pasta after all!

Although we were only there for 2 full days, it was amazing and I can’t wait to go back.
